30 Days of Heart: Day 13

you can not get anymore successful to me than you are right now!

A few days ago my wife was reading to me a passage from the book “Overcoming Spiritual Attack” by Ryan LeStrange.  After we were done it was evident to her that I needed some extra healing in some areas, so we did a SOZO right there in our living room.  What is a Sozo you might ask?  Well, before I answer that you need to know my viewpoint of what we, as people, are all made up of. We have a physical body that you can see and touch.  We have a mind or soul that helps us think, form our belief system, and respond cognitively and emotionally to the world around us.  Most people in the world believe in those two things.  Many have a problem understanding or even believing the concept of a spirit.  Because it is neither physical, nor mental.  It is something different altogether.  It is the third part of us that I speak openly about.  It is not just a Christian thought, in fact most religions in the world believe in a spirit world.

One thing I want you to know about me: I believe in the word of I AM or YaHWeH.  The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The God of the Jews who Sent his one and ONLY son Jesus to come live a sinless life (sin = thoughts and actions that separate us from Father God) and die for ALL MANKIND.  He is as inclusive as you can get.  He says that nothing can separate you from the love of Jesus. (He also says a lot of other really awesome stuff in the bible.) On that note, you know a little bit about where I am coming from even though you may or may not agree (which is ok, it is just a needed backstory for the rest to make sense).

Sozo in the Greek means Salvation, which most people have heard of.  Most people associate the act of salvation as a one-time prayer that you repeat after a preacher and then you spend eternity in heaven.  Yes, eternal salvation IS one part of Sozo, but just one part.  The coolest thing in THIS world is that Sozo also means health, healing, peace, prosperity and wholeness. When we don’t think of God as a father that wants to have a daily relationship with us then we lose track of (forget) the awesomeness that He has for us.  One thing we can do is go through the vulnerable act of talking to Him with another person there as a guide. Kind of like a counseling session.

My wife had me ask God a question. (Ok, this also needs to be said:  many awesome Christians believe that God has already done everything he will do and that he no longer talks to his children. While I wholeheartedly disagree with that, I love those people and respect them greatly.  My relationship with them is not based on our agreement of this topic, but on Jesus being the way the truth and the life.) For the basis of this post you must be at least open to the fact that there is a God, and that He speaks and listens to His children (the whole world) on a daily basis, and longs to have relationship with us.

So, we were sitting in the living room and she asked me to ask God out loud what he thinks of me.  Immediately I heard him say He is proud of me and that I was successful. I was like, umm no way, I am barely getting started.  He said Son you can not be any more successful to me than right now at this moment in your life.  Wow, and I was worried and put pressure on myself to do something great in this world for His kingdom’s sake.  My wife then asked me several more questions about what I thought success looked like verses what God thought it looked like.  God has told me tons of times success is hanging out with him and watching cool stuff happen.  I was like God, I believe that but that is not good enough for others.  They need to see my success before they follow me.  Isn’t that what you want? For me to lead an army of laid-down lovers of You?

He said if you take your eyes off of Me and put it on others’ thoughts when they don’t fully get it, you will lose your understanding and it will corrupt your belief system.  If you focus on hanging out with Me, then together we will watch the world come together in Unity like it has never seen before.  He said rulers will come seeking your counsel, those in the media, arts, government, education system, business, family and the church will come.  Don’t seek them out, but seek Me out.

He told me the same thing He told Jesus the day he got baptized before he did a single miracle, This is my son in whom I am well pleased. I am a son, and so are you (or a daughter).  You may not understand it fully or even fight the concept of a God who loves you.  He is not mad at you and you don’t have to work another day to earn his approval, you already have it and your inheritance.  You don’t have to please a man or run with someone else’s dream to be loved and accepted by God.

johnny how do i relate this to my life?

Whether you are a Christian, Religious, or Atheist You are loved and accepted.  You are here on this earth for community and fellowship.  You were not created to be by yourself. You are in the presence of someone.  It may be family, it may be friends, it may even be people that you were told are your enemies.  There is no one on this earth who is your enemy, except in our minds we choose to shut off someone because they think differently than us. We were told by people to hate.

Again whether you are a Christian or not you can appreciate this.  Jesus said, “Love the Lord God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength” and “love your neighbor as yourself”.  It is important to note that Jesus was not talking about love your neighbor like you love yourself, so if you don’t love yourself you don’t have to love your neighbor.  He meant love your neighbor how you are loved by God.  Later Jesus goes on to say love people how I love them, to clarify.  He gave everything for us to be together.  He wants us to be together to love, laugh, eat, play games, think of cures for diseases, grow our knowledge of the planets. He wants us to be TOGETHER.

If you are alone or feel alone right now, that is not all because of you.  It is the enemy who works to steal relationships, it is the enemy who kills dreams, and it is the enemy who destroys mindsets to where you change your belief system.

You were created to be loved and to love.  That takes going back to the root of your inner man.  Where your heart is.  It connects your mind, body, and spirit together.  It is the seat of your passions and purpose.  Go back there and unlock the lock you placed around your heart so it doesn’t get trampled and love freely. For me today, this looked like accepting that I am a success to God, and success is not defined by what others think, but by my Creator. I choose to give my heart to those around me and work From a place of success, not For success.

My name is Johnny Walker and I am on a journey to Get, Grow in, and Give my Heart.  Will you come with me?

  1. Johnny I have grown quite a bit and have learned and hold this information close to my heart! I know the Lord has great things for me to come sometimes I can be a bit impatient, but recently moveved keeps and bounds personally moving into my own place, something I have never done my whole life . And I must say it feels great but right now I feel a bit dry I can’t explain it any other way but that it’s not bad but confusing I’m reading and studying I feel peace in my heart do you understand how I feel and have you ever felt this way

    1. Stepping out in faith and obedience can be scary and sometimes feel confusing. I can totally relate to feeling dry as well. It takes putting ourselves intentionally into a community to not just make us feel better, but be there for us when we don’t.

I know God has cool stuff in store for you.
